"If only we knew" we would have tried to mingle more with American students. Easy to say, not always easy to do!
The ideal for us:
To live in a big house with 3, 4, 5 roommates.
Why not with another French, but not too many!
To have a car to discover the surroundings (Austin, Houston, Dallas, …) and to be able to move across the town because here, without a car, you won't do anything.
Don and Ghislaine own a big house with 5 rooms that they want to lease to French and American students to facilitate exchange. The house (on the picture) will be furnished and equipped with a washing machine, dryer, BBQ, … New pictures will be soon uploaded!

Car: they will help you to buy a car and to be sure to sell it back at the end of your stay or they will lease you a car for an affordable price.
Day trips & activities: Austin, Dallas, Houston, baseball and hockey games, rodeos, horse riding, gun shooting, Don and Ghislaine can guarantee you a complete Texan experience!
Events & opportunities: Texas A&M organises a lot of conferences and invites many professionals that you would like to meet. But to be aware of what happens, read your emails, because time flies and if you go to your first conference in March, that's a bit too late to realise all the opportunities the campus offers.
One more thing? Don is an entrepreneurship professor, and he is in charge of the Texas A&M incubator. If you are looking for an internship at the end of the program, or if you just want to expand your network, he can put you in contact with a lot of people who can help you out!

Howdy Ranch - Terms and conditions -
Rent - $500 / person / room
Administrative fee - $35/person
Deposit - $500 /person, This is refundable at the end of the contract with a deduction for damages that have been made during the rental period. The deposit has to be paid as soon as the application is filled out, in order to lease a room.
Utilities - Utilitities are paid directly to Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU: for electricity, water, sewage and trash)

Once you arrive at howdy ranch, you will be able to fill out a "Roommate Agreement" that will only be between the roommates, and wil not involve the owners.
- Payment options -
For the application - echecks and credits cards are accepted, but there is a $3 fee for online payments.
For the deposit - The deposit must be paid before arrival, and as soon as possible in order to book the reservation. Once the deposit is paid from France, a contract will be created and emailed to the resident so that they can sign it. For international payments, credit cards (Master Card and Visa) are definitely the easiest way. The fee is $25 per payment.
For the rent - Once you arrive in Bryan, a deposit slip will be given to the resident, which will be paid to the bank directly in order to avoid online payment fees. Payments can be made in cash, money orders or by check.
You will receive a receipt from the bank that will be your proof of payment.
You will also be able to pay per echeck from your American bank account, or you can set up an automatic online payment. In that case, fees will be $3 per payment.

You can also choose to live in an appartment next to the house (which can hold 2,3, or 4 people) for $450 per month.
Location
The Howdy Ranch is located near Downtown Bryan, which is a very cute and pleasent area, where you will find a variety of Bars, Restaurants, and shopping!
It will take you about 15 minutes to get to campus by car, and a campus parking pass will be provided with the car.
You can also take the bus line 12 "Reveille" at the "Blinn College" stop (this is where you can leave your bicycle if you have one), and it will take you about 20/30 to get to campus.
