Your arrival in Texas…

In Texas, you won't find any "passenger train" or regular and fast bus lines from one city to another. Choosing Houston as arrival airport is highly recommended if you have to go to College Station by your own means. You can also arrive directly at the College Station airport.

Once you arrive at the airport, what are your possibilities to get to your destination?

If you found a round trip for France/College Station for a decent price: you will only have to pay a taxi between $15 and $50, depending on your address, or you may ask someone to pick you up.

If you arrive at Houston International Airport: you may book your ticket for the Groundshuttle that will pick you up at Terminal C (in the taxi zone of International Airport Houston (IAH)) and will drop you off at College Station airport for $28. Even more conveninet, for $7 more, the shuttle can drop you off at your destination.

How does it work? Go on the Groundshuttle website to book your ticket (shuttles are often full). For the departure time, please anticipate 2 or 3 hours after landing (the border controls may take a long time).

If you arrive at Austin or Dallas airports: the only idea that we can think of is car sharing through the website zimride, but all car sharing websites may sometimes surprise you, so make sure that you are being careful. You can also check Greyhound busses, which are busses that travel throughout the country. They are a cheap way to travel, but they can also be very slow.

If you are a future resident of Howdy Ranch: Don and Ghislaine will be there for your assistance. If your plane lands too late for you to take the Groundshuttle, or if you booked a flight for Austin or Dallas, they will find a way to help you if you run into trouble!

Home sweet home, now where to get some food?

It may seem obvious, but once you'll be set up, you will have to eat at some point. Believe me, In Texas, it is not easy to go to a grocery store without a car.

Those who will live in the Howdy Ranch will find things to make breakast, lunch, and dinner, in their kitchen.

For the others, try to find a convenient store (CVS on University Drive for example) or buy some things before leaving the airport. If your roommates are already there, don't hesitate to ask for some help, Texans are usually very helpful.
